Approach
Jennifer believes that our lives are all about the relationships
we create and our perception of how well they are working. This
begins at a very young age with sibling issues, playground difficulties,
struggles with blossoming friendships, and strained familial relationships.
At Planting Seeds Christian Counseling, you will be welcomed into
a warm and compassionate relationship where your concerns will
be heard regardless of your age. Through her faith, education,
professional training and experience as a mom, Jennifer is able
to connect with her clients and offer effective, individualized
solutions which instill hope and encourage positive change.
Jennifer would fall into the category of a “Christian professional”
according to the article in Christianity Today written
by Gary Collins (1975) who discussed five different types of Christian
counselors. A Christian professional is someone who has been trained
and received degrees and credentials in the secular counseling
approaches, but who also has a strong commitment to biblical truth.
Though Jennifer recognizes that all people have a need for Christ
and that God’s Word is absolutely reliable, she is committed to
loving all persons whether or not they are Christians. She hopes
to build respectful relationships with her clients and to let our
Lord’s light shine from her life. While she feels that hiding beliefs
and trying to do value-free counseling is both unwise and impossible,
she is committed to respecting each person’s right to self determination
and the exercise of free will. In that regard, she would never
coerce anyone to take a particular position. She may, however,
challenge myths, faulty thinking or reasoning and inconsistencies.
What other colleagues say about Jennifer:
- “Jennifer is a thoughtful, careful and caring counselor”
- “She is knowledgeable and resourceful in working with clients”
- “She knows just when to be supportive and when to be challenging.”
- “Jennifer shows good judgment in dealing with highly charged,
emotional situations.”
